Muhammad Ali Clay " Sports Man of the Century" "Greatest boxer of all times"

Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.;is an American former boxer and three-time World Heavyweight Champion. As an amateur, he won a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome.[1] After turning professional, he went on to become the first and only boxer to win the lineal heavyweight championship three times.
Originally known as Cassius Clay, Ali changed his name after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964, subsequently converting to Sunni Islam in 1975. In 1967, Ali refused to be conscripted into the U.S. military, based on his religious beliefs and opposition to the Vietnam War. He was arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges, stripped of his boxing title, and his boxing license was suspended. He was not imprisoned, but did not fight again for nearly four years while his appeal worked its way up to the U.S. Supreme Court, where it was successful.
Nicknamed “The Greatest”, Ali was involved in several historic boxing matches. Notable among these are three with rival Joe Frazier and one with George Foreman, whom he beat by knockout to win the world heavyweight title for the second time. He suffered only five losses (four decisions and one TKO by retirement from the bout) with no draws in his career, while amassing 56 wins (37 knockouts and 19 decisions).[2] Ali was well known for his unorthodox fighting style, which he described as “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”, and employing techniques such as the rope-a-dope.[3] He was also known for his pre-match hype, where he would “trash talk” opponents on television and in person some time before the match, often with rhymes. These personality quips and idioms, along with an unorthodox fighting technique, made him a cultural icon. In later life, Ali developed Parkinson’s syndrome. In 1999, Ali was crowned “Sportsman of the Century” by Sports Illustrated and “Sports Personality of the Century” by the BBC.

Some Words of Muhammad Ali Clay about his beliefs and:
Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? No I’m not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over. This is the day when such evils must come to an end. I have been warned that to take such a stand would cost me millions of dollars. But I have said it once and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is here. I will not disgrace my religion, my people or myself by becoming a tool to enslave those who are fighting for their own justice, freedom and equality. If I thought the war was going to bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my people they wouldn’t have to draft me, I’d join tomorrow. I have nothing to lose by standing up for my beliefs. So I’ll go to jail, so what? We’ve been in jail for 400 years.
(As quoted in Redemption Song: Muhammad Ali and the Spirit of the Sixties (1999) by Mike Marqusee; also quoted in the International Socialist Review Issue 33 (January–February 2004)).
Religions all have different names, but they all contain the same truths. ... I think the people of our religion should be tolerant and understand people believe different things.
(When asked how he felt about the suspects in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks sharing his Islamic faith. As quoted in "Bush: 'Justice Will Be Done'" at CNN (20 September 2001)).
What's really hurting me, the name Islam is involved, and Muslim is involved and causing trouble and starting hate and violence. ... Islam is not a killer religion. ... Islam means peace, I couldn't just sit home and watch people label Muslims as the reason for this problem.
(As quoted in "Muhammad Ali Defends His Religion" by Lisa L. Colangelo and Clem Richardson in New York Daily News (21 September 2001), p. 34).
Allah is the Greatest. I'm just the greatest boxer.
(As quoted in "Interview with Muhammad Ali" at SoundVision.com)
I'd like for them to say he took a few cups of love, he took one tablespoon of patience, teaspoon of generosity, one pint of kindness. He took one quart of laughter, one pinch of concern, and then, he mix willlingness with happiness, he added lots of faith, and he stired it up well, then he spreads it over his span of a lifetime, and he served it to each and every deserving person he met.
(Response to George Plimpton, question at the end of an interview: "What would you like people to think about you when you've gone?"). Interview (video)

The Soul of a Butterfly
Over the years my religion has changed and my spirituality has evolved. Religion and spirituality are very different, but people often confuse the two. Some things cannot be taught, but they can be awakened in the heart. Spirituality is recognizing the divine light that is within us all. It doesn't belong to any particular religion; it belongs to everyone.
We all have the same God, we just serve him differently. Rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, oceans all have different names, but they all contain water. So do religions have different names, and they all contain truth, expressed in different ways forms and times. It doesn't matter whether you're a Muslim, a Christian, or a Jew. When you believe in God, you should believe that all people are part of one family. If you love God, you can't love only some of his children.
My soul has grown over the years, and some of my views have changed. As long as I am alive, I will continue to try to understand more because the work of the heart is never done. All through my life I have been tested. My will has been tested, my courage has been tested, my strength has been tested. Now my patience and endurance are being tested. Every step of the way I believe that God has been with me. And, more than ever, I know that he is with me now. I have learned to live my life one step, one breath, and one moment at a time, but it was a long road. I set out on a journey of love, seeking truth, peace and understanding. l am still learning.
Wouldn't it be a beautiful world if just 10 percent of the people who believe in the power of love would compete with one another to see who could do the most good for the most people?
If we continue to think and live as if we belong only to different cultures and different religions, with separate missions and goals, we will always be in self-defeating competition with each other.
Once we realize we are all members of humanity, we will want to compete in the spirit of love.
In a competition of love we'll all share in the victory, no matter who comes first.

Just to inform you, that some of my Muslim relatives call me "Qur'an obsessed", though I think, it's their ignorance and InshAllah, they will understand everything, with time and you people need to put all your Trust in Allah, who has the Power to do anything!
In fact, this whole blog of mine, is dedicated to "help you people with religion and get help from you, if needed!". Other stuff, like politics, science, technology, theory, humanities, relationships, societies, history, etc ...... , will also be discussed. Feel free to ask or inform, whatever you want to! From rebel to a social Entrepreneur

A rebel  is a person who negates the traditions and stand apart from the majority having his own view right or wrong. He doesn't accept the views commonly agreed upon. They stand against the ills of the society whether someone stand beside them or not.
A Social entrepreneur is a person who finds and utilizes the opportunities in the society for the well being of the society, being profitable as well but having the social output as a major objective. He also has own view and see the opportunities that other cannot see.
Rebels and Social Entrepreneurs are the two opposite poles of the same magnet. They have a set of common attributes with different approach. Social Entrepreneurs are also called rebels with a cause.
There are some basic differences between a rebel and a social entrepreneur…..

  • Rebels are most of the time pessimist and believe in rebuilding which starts with destroying first. Social Entrepreneurs are optimist they believe in finding area of improvement.
  • Rebels do not have the temperament of accepting others whom they disagree but Social entrepreneur accept others to change their lives.
  • Rebels are problem oriented they find the problems, social entrepreneur are solution oriented.
  • Rebels are good speaker and social entrepreneur are good listner.
  • Rebels have destructive attitude but Social Entrepreneurs have constructive approach.
  • Rebels can be said to have a negative approach while social entrepreneurs have positive thinking.
  • In the society where rebel try to crush the ills, Social Entrepreneur finds medicine to cure.
  • Rebels stand alone apart from the society for the change and Social entrepreneur stand with the society for their betterment.
But both have their own place in the society, rebels are also very important in the society as they are only people who can bring the change when the society has completely collapsed because of social ills. Social Entrepreneur keep working for the betterment of society in all circumstances they try to save the society from collapse.
A rebel can be a good social entrepreneur if…..
But I personally believe one should be social entrepreneur instead of rebel to be more effective in the society. Any person who has a mind of rebel can be good social entrepreneur after a little amendment in his attitude and thinking style. He/she just has to be positive and collective in his/her thinking and now the rebel is a social entrepreneur.
How to make your thinking positive it is an art to be learnt. There are some exercises which can help one to make one’s thinking positive and collective.
Here is the one……..Pray for all people around you…. and people you see daily…whether you like or do not like them… pray for them…especially for those whom you dislike… it is a little difficult in the beginning but with the passage of time you will see noticeable difference in your thinking… how to pray for those whom do you abhor??? Just pray, May they are guided to right path and May they are reverted to a good person…
It is one exercise, but very effective one.

Wait

by Russell Kelfer
Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;
Quietly, patiently, lovingly, God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate . . .
And the Master so gently said, "Wait."

"Wait? you say wait?" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith I have asked, and I'm claiming your Word.

"My future and all to which I relate
Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to wait?
I'm needing a 'yes', a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.

"You promised, dear Lord, that if we believe,
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord I've been asking, and this is my cry:
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply."

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate,
As my Master replied again, "Wait."
So I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut,
And grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting for what?"

He seemed then to kneel, and His eyes met with mine . . .
and He tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.

"I could give all you seek and pleased you would be.
You'd have what you want, but you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of my love for each saint.
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint.

"You'd not learn to see through clouds of despair;
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there.
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence are all you can see.

"You'd never experience the fullness of love
When the peace of My spirit descends like a dove.
You would know that I give, and I save, for a start,
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

"The glow of my comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that's beyond getting just what you ask
From an infinite God who makes what you have last.

"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that My grace is sufficient for thee.
Yes, your dearest dreams overnight would come true,
But, oh, the loss, if you missed what I'm doing in you.

"So, be silent, my child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to truly know me.
And though oft My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still . . . Wait."

Meet yourself

How can I know, who am I, why am I? Man since its first birth has been trying to find out the meanings of its being. In history its quest has always been muddling with the questions; who is he/she?; How he/she came into being?; what is the purpose of his/her creation?; what will be his/her end?. For all his questions he uses the same sources of knowledge which are used almost in all cases. There are two basic sources of learning induction and deduction. In induction he is using different tools like  science, his power of senses, his observation to find the answers to all the questions; he keeps on exploring himself and his environment physically and Meta physically to find his answers. Science leads him to its theories like evolution and big bang to satisfy him where as when he takes help from deduction history and religion (existing sources of information and knowledge) guide him in this regard, they also provide him some meaning of his life. In deduction we take the information and knowledge from existing sources like books and other databases, in induction one learns and make his perceptions on the behalf of his experiences and observations of what is really going on all around.
Man of deduction whenever get indulged in some dialogue he uses the sayings of other people and references of existing information to prove his point, A man of induction believe his mind ,he says what he experience how he sees the world and how he thinks about the world.

Self  Analysis/ Step One Meet Yourself
Man meets thousands of people; he sees millions of scenes; he observes trillions of things , in all this he doesn’t get chance to meet himself he often doesn’t get even some moments to spend with himself for only his own sake. The people he meets daily or off and on, he knows their habits characteristics and also makes judgment about their nature. But he remains completely unaware about himself.
As we know almost each and everything in our room, we know where the table is; where the books are kept; where the curtains are; where the door to exit exist and what is the purpose of all these things, we know what is the use of bed placed in our room how to use the coach. We know each and every thing even the color of the bulbs in our room. In the very same way we should also know about ourselves, as we see outside, in the very same way we need to see inside, in the inner room, our heart, our soul and our self. It sounds strange and seems impractical or abstract concept difficult to implement, no problem, just think what happens when you visit a place for the first time and for a very short period of time, do you remember every detail of that place, definitely no. But if you visit it frequently and increase your stay over there, then definitely your acquaintance with the environment will increase you will start knowing more and more things about that place, the very same way, in the beginning it seems very odd to see in, inside yourself. But keep trying, with the passage of time you will explore yourself and you will, then, come to know about a very different world never reviled before. The method is very simple, spend some time daily or weekly or monthly as it suits you in the beginning but must spend some time alone just with yourself and think, think what do you like in others what makes you angry about others, try to recall some such instances like someone had misbehaved with you any time, someone had done a favor to you in the time of need, then try to find, all those things you like in other, do they exist in you? and also check if the things you abhor are there in you. Try to do those things for others which you like for yourself and try to abstain from those deeds which you don’t like. Try to recall the activities you have been doing the whole day and try to evaluate whether they were done the way as they should be or not.
Deduction will also help to find out our meaning, but we have started with induction by observing and using our senses to find and meet ourselves as we have a more strong belief in what we personally see, listen or feel.

Tasawwuf

Tasawwuf General Concept
Tasawwuf, Most of us as Muslims have heard or read about this word from different sources. If we do not go deep, at least in our text books (particularly Pakistani text books) we have read that Sufi’s (Islamic Missionaries) had played a very important role in spreading Islam worldwide in general and in subcontinent in particular. So I hope this word is not new to many people. Lets move to the ideology, Most of us have general concept of Tasawwuf or Sufi as “Something about being pious and harmless or someone who is pious or harmless”, though it is not a wrong concept but it is not what Tasawwuf is all about. It can be Tag Mark attributed with it, but Tasawwuf is complete field in itself demanding hardcore study and training. It will not be wrong if I say it is the toughest study and training.
Is Tasawwuf a science?
Like Physics, Chemistry, Biology it can be defined as science “A science of inner study and training”. But it is more than mere a science, science bases on logic and logic is always immature, you can challenge any logic any time on the bases of a new logic but in Tasawwuf there is no conflict in between, no contradictions because all the things, ideas, activities are integrated resulting in whole picture a complete one with no flaws. Thus Tasawwuf is a vast field comprising science and humanity.
Tasawwuf Definition
Here the question arises what is Tasawwuf, how can we define it?
Answer is very simple, as we define other field of studies.
We define any discipline or field of study on the bases of what we have explored so far in it and keep redefining on the bases of latest updates. The very same way how we define Tasawwuf is what we have explored in it. Let’s try to define it……
“We can say that it is the science of study and training of one’s own self which results in a better human for one’s own well being and for the betterment of the society.”
“Tasawwuf is about finding yourself in the purest form”
It can also be defined as “The process of self purification”.
Whom we see in the mirror is not what actually we are. First of all we should make this thing clear that we comprises two components one is in hard form “our body” and one in soft form “our soul”. As our physical appearance can be modified by hair style, dresses, shoes and different adornments and the choice of these things matter to our impression to others the very same way the identity and impression of our soul depends on how we maintain and manage it.

Tasawwuf a journey
Insha’Allah we will keep exploring it, and keep sharing our experiences and ideas about, in detail. We will try to identify and learn about the elements tools needed and influential for the Soul. For this we need to meet ourselves, first as we are currently and then we have to make it pure step by step. This long journey of study and training is called Tasawwuf.
I have intentionally not included the religious guide lines currently, to start the journey scientifically as we believe it to be more reliable source of knowledge. In next part Insha’Allah we will discuss some institutions and process of Tasawwuf. I am looking forward to so many queries which will help us to move on by brain storming. Thanks, May you also be among those blessed people of Allah Almighty who are thankful to him in every situation, Ameen.
